Oehlbach HDMI at every wall socket: Transfer Full HD 1080p up to 300 meters with the Powerlan HDMI Extender

Published by admin on

When HDMI-signals are transferred over long distances, interferences are a common but unwelcome phenomenon. In order to solve this issue, the Oehlbach Kabel GmbH introduces the Powerlan HDMI Extender: a compact sized sender and receiver combo, that both use powerline-technology for transferring HDMI. Over the last couple of years this tech has proven to be very reliable and is widely used in IT. Thanks to that technology you can send a Full HD 1080p signal with 60 Hertz and High Quality Sound with 5.1. DTS HD and Dolby True HD over distances up to 300 meters. The Powerlan HDMI Extender also works as an HDMI-Splitter and has an Infrared-Receiver, so that you can continue to use your usual devices at the source.

HDMI-signals are tricky business: When using regular cables, interferences in picture and sound can occur and disrupt the whole audio and video experience. This is why Oehlbach offers many high-end cables that allow distances up to 20 meters and the wireless HDMI-Transmitter Falcon HD even covers distances up to 30 meters. If you want a solution to achieve even longer distances, you need the Oehlbach Powerlan HDMI Extender: This combination of a sending and a receiving unit uses the existing power line to transfer the HDMI-Signals up to 300 meters.

Go with the (data) flow
A cable is nothing more than a pipeline for digital signals. With HDMI this principle is practically the same, even if you sometimes need more sophisticated hardware or a DA-converter. Here the powerline-technology comes into play. Instead of transferring IP data via the powerline, the new Oehlbach Powerlan HDMI Extender transfers HDMI. The adapter converts the digital signals, so that they can be transferred via the regular 230 volt powerline. At the endpoint a second adapter receives the data and passes them on to your device, for example your television.

Simply double your home cinema

If drilling into walls isn’t an option or the distance is simply too long for an HDMI cable, the Oehlbach Powerlan HDMI Extender is the perfect solution: it transfers a Full HD Signal over the power line, up to 300 meters and converts it back into a HDMI signal for your TV or receiver. But there is more: The Powerlan HDMI Extender splits the signal as well. That means you get the same signal at the source and the terminal device, so you can use your home cinema equipment at two places at once. Imagine using all the devices from your living room in your party cellar or gazebo! All you need is a second television. For maximised ease of use the remote IR-signals are even transferred back to the source, so it feels as if the devices are in the same room as you are.

Full HD 1080p in top quality

The Oehlbach Powerlan HDMI Extender provides a lossless data stream from point A to point B. The compact boxes transfer HDMI signals with a resolution of 1080p (60 Hertz) including high resolution audio. When using surround sound, even 5.1 DTS HD and Dolby True HD are transferred via power line – everything in HDCP standard and including a backchannel for he infrared signals of your remote. Even with that kind of complex technology, the Powerlan HDMI Extender is easy to use: Just connect the sender via HDMI with your source (for example an AV-Receiver) and the HDMI-out of the box with your TV. Then plug your Extender into the wall socked at the source and plug the HDMI receiver into the other wall socked at the destination. Then you simply connect it via HDMI with your second television and you’re set to go.
